The life of the legendary, Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton, known as the world's
greatest female Blues artist is coming to the stage in Los Angeles.
The first to introduce the song "Ain't Nothin but A Hound Dog", also recorded by the late great Elvis Presley.
In addition, she wrote and recorded "Ball and Chain" which was also recorded by the late Janis Joplin.
Blues and Jazz recording artist, Barbara Morrison, a legend in her own right, and
exceptional vocal talent known throughout the U.S. and abroad is simply mesmerizing as Big Mama Thornton. Barbara will re-create
the magic that only she can provide as the soul stirring Big Mama Thornton.
Big Mama Thornton's work began in the 1940's and spanned over four decades, yet she never gained the notoriety
nor the wealth that she truly deserved for her gallant effort.
This story written and produced by Theatre Perception Consortium,
noted for their work as producers and writers of the Award Winning 1940's Jazz Musical "North On South Central Ave",
have created another magnificent piece of literature in "Howlin Blues and Dirty Dogs".
Music, dancing, comedy, drama - all the components of great theatre have been captured
in this production.
The "Blues" is revitalized and personified in "Howlin Blues and Dirty Dogs" The
pure essence of this great legend in all of her simple splendor is re-created as you take a journey into the personal life,
and trials of the exciting musical trailblazer, Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton.
